Has anyone here tried out Asus Xonar sound cards before? I bought a set of Audioengine A5+'s (http://www.gadgetreview.com/wp-content/ ... 50x433.jpg) a few months ago and I'm wondering if my Audigy 1 is holding them back. I've been looking at the Xonar Dx to replace it potentially but I'm still on the fence.

No personal experience with them. But the reviewers seem to love them.
i'd get one, but i'm still more than happy with my Auzentech HDA Xplosion i bought way back when.

Ya, I've been seeing the reviews as well and most seem to say it's a step up from the Audigy 2 Zs's even, but most of what I listen to are 128-192 kbps MP3's so I'm wondering if that might be limiting it in either case.

If all you're listening to are basic MP3's and you don't have a high end speaker setup then you won't hear enough difference for it to be worth the money.

Basic MP3's yes, but the speakers are one of the highest rated computer speakers out there. It probably is overkill for "mostly" MP3's though.

Had one in a post-fx machine at my old music studio. Worked great no complaints, wasnt expecting a high end card but it delivered.
