So who bought it? I won't ask who has played it yet - because from the sounds of it even the people who bought it have't really "played" it yet amirite?

I hear SimCity the game is great, but SimCity the service is horrible. Like... worse than horrible. I really want to play but at the same time I'm going to try and resist like many others to prove a point. I'm also calling it quits on the Diablo series as well, not only for DRM, but also because I didn't find the last game all that great. :-\ I skipped StarCraft 2 and I didn't regret that either.

Anyway, if anyone has actually played let us know what you think.

If you're looking for a Diablo-esque game with less BS and more fun then give Path of Exile a try. It's currently free (i think) and plays a lot like Diablo 2 with modern graphics.

I've played Torchlight 1 and 2 and I find them to be a great alternative to Diablo.

Had I not been in the wilds of Ontario the past couple weeks I would have bought it. Reading the reviews today, I'm glad I didn't. Everything I was hoping wouldn't happen (can't log on randomly, games don't sync, numerous duhhh bugs).

I definitely won't be buying it until they fix these errors. I do like the series and I like what they (Maxis) did this time around. I don't like what they (EA) did to fsck the whole experience

Well it's sort of OK now. Now that I was able to get an external speed editor. Screw cheetah speed I can play at warp factor 11 now!

What would take days of waiting at Llama speed can be done in an hour.

You don't look that scared in your origin avatar (hah). I'm on RJOC shift watches so it'll be either feast or famine for me playing. The game still has many serious flaws though heh.

While boycotting SimCity 5 Mass Effect 3 went on sale so I ended up getting it. I'm not very good at this whole "Boycott EA" thing.

Eyah they were giving away Mass Effect 3 for free (along with others) for all those poor saps who bought into this DRM-MMO sim thing.

And how it all was a bad idea. Basically everyone is blaming everyone else for not knowing how to rehash an old game.

Mods in the SimCity sub-reddit are trying to get people to stop posting bad things about the game. Someone else made a post saying all that bashing is what actually got him to avoid buying the game in the first place. I'm wondering if the Streisand-effect will come in to play here.

Yeah, I love all the "bad press" in the reddit corner of the web sphere. Personally I've downloaded every single "mod" I can get my hands on and it's only a matter of time before that white striped line disappears.

Patch coming on Monday, we'll have to see if they actually fix anything of any note...

Let us (me) know how the patch goes. I'm still not buying the game on principle but I am interested to see if they cleaned up a lot of what people were upset about; minus the DRM of course.
