 Post subject: Super*Talent Dual Channel

I don't know if the ram I bought runs dual channel or not. Under CPUz it says Single, But I think it could be cause i have 3 Sticks, not 4. I have 3x1GB Super*Talent DDR2 PC2-5300 /w HS.

u cant run dual channel with 3 sticks. either 2 or 4

and also the motherboard has to be capable of it, (which basically all mother boards now adays do) the rammodules just have to be similar

Actually I've heard you can run dual channel memory with 3 sticks. I've never done it myself but apparently the paired sticks will be used first in dual channel until the system needs more memory than is available by the pair and then it will go on to use the third stick in single channel.

I originally assumed 3 sticks would kick all of it out of dual channel as well, since most things with computers run at the speed/setting of the bottleneck, but apparently boards will mix and match single and dual channel memory configurations.

Just thought you'd like to know. :)

I don't know about the dual channel with 3 sticks, but I do know Intel is working on a new chipset that will support tri-channel ram :lol:

Wait until mid-late 2008 if you're interested :P
