You should be able to run multiple SMP clients and the GPU client. With Ati cards make sure you leave 1 core feeding the GPU client though. Use the VMWARE folding appliance.

I wouldn't fold on a notebook

Haha, you would think by the way people act out here, but sadly it's not true :P

Thanks for the tip on the VM folding client Doc. I will try it out.

We're trying to find a use for our old surplus PC's at work. I recommended starting a Folding program, we'd have 30+ boxes to dedicate to it.

My draw of 3 amps continuous while folding works out to be 259.2kwh over a 30 day period.

The current rates before taxes can be found here:

Older computers use a lot of power compared to the amount of folding they can do. PS3's are the most bang for the buck, mind you one has to buy a PS3 first :P

Luckily, this would be paid through a government fund, and the PSU's have for the most part, been updated fairly recently.

So I think I'm going to get into folding again as I have multiple computers + a PS3 sitting around and I don't pay for power :P

Was just wondering though, is it better to use the GPU client or CPU client. I currently have a HD 4870 and a core i7 920 @ 2.66GHZ. Just wondering which client I should use to get the most out of my system.
