i bought this tower (NIKAO 1285B (Black) Mid-Tower Case w/ Front USB2.0 / Audio Ports) 2 yrs ago.
i recently upgraded from XP to windows 7, and now the front audio ports dont work. the usb ports are fine, but when i plug in my headphones i dont get any sound. any suggests you can give me in order to make them run again? thanks!!

Most likely you just have to right click the volume icon in system tray, click "playback devices" and if front panel audio is there right click it and click "set as default". If you don't see front panel audio right click on the white space and make sure "show disabled devices" is enabled. Also make sure "show disconnected devices" is enabled.

If this doesn't work your bios isn't set to use the right codec for windows 7/vista audio.

In your bios settings make sure your front panel audio is set to hd audio. If its already set to hd try the other I think its ac97.

Hope this helps..

if none of that works, they are cheap cases and it may actually be the wired connection itself.

Windows 7 is actually pretty goofy once you have multiple audio out devices and have to change the default out. I just avoid the whole issue and have a USB headset. I saw my friend have to change teh audio out and as far as I could see you couldn't tell a difference when changing from "speakers" that didn't work to "speakers" that did.

Futureshack and Worst Buy have a good selection as well. Can't go wrong with the big 3: Microsoft, Logitech or Seinnheiser. Prices range from 50$ to over 200$.

yes usb headsets save headaches

my problem before was having the xfi xtreme audio card and the logitech z 550-s. i couldnt split the sound out, it just wouldnt work that way, and really annoying feedback when i used speakers and a mic
