FS here has them, but no way I'm paying $180 for a 4770, not when 4850's have been going for $100

So i gather 2 4770's would be a better choice then one 4870 or 4890 or 2 3870's but would still play new games?

I use two 3870's. Theres nothing that I am unable to play with excellent frame rates.

last time i checked these were going for ~107+tax

far cry from 156+tax when I bought them :(

I checked online with regards to reviews and tests for the 4770. Apparently, it kicks the 3870's a$$. Only thing for most people who are active on the forums who seem to also be overclockers - is the fact that all that heat is dumped in the case. ( I am going to check for tests and reviews for it in x-fire )

Ati went that route with its gpu cooler design as apparently it runs much cooler, using the 45nm process. I think I would still opt for a cooler that dumps the heat outside the case and defrosts the windows in the winter.

Anyone wanna buy 2 3870's not even 2 mo old? lol haha

i have both a 4890 and 2 4770's in crossfire in my 2 main machines and the 4770 crossifire is considerably faster. as i have said you can overclock these to speeds of the 4870 with just the stock cooler.

i think ati is keeping shipments to a minumum in order to try and sell the remaining 4850's.

LOL Guess I am going to put my two 3870's up for sale.

I am surprised that you find the 4770 faster than two 4870's. 3dmark scores shows that? or framerates?

I used to work @ FS as a technican for a lil while. Nice thing about working there is the staff purchasing. cost +10%. I wouldnt buy a card from FS unless the deal was insane and or better than MB or some other outlet.

180 - rip off.

no,no,no 2 4770's are faster then a single 4890.

with the core of the 4770 around 900 and memory at 1ghz you get very close framrates to that of the 4870. no idea of 3dmark scores, i don't use synthetic benches.

I was doing some looking around the net about the 4770 in x-fire. (toms' hardware) The results for the cost of two of these cards compared to higher end ATI and Nvidia are nothing short of amazing. In nearly all of the tests two 4770's wiped the floor with the other ( more expensive I might add) single card solutions available.

If I am going to get better performance, better framrates for less money, why wouldnt I get 2 4770's instead of a more expensive less performing single card?

check out the Tom's hardware review on the 4770 in x-fire.

this is what i have been saying, but ati really needs to get these in stores, the complete lack of stock everywhere is depressing.

UPDATE- A certian large canadian e-tailer got stock today! 149.99 so the price is still up there a bit, i only paid 119.99 for my first 2, but this is the effect of high demmand low supply.
