if you look hard enough you can find 4890's for $199.99 in sales from time to time.

I just read that review. I am very impressed with the power consumption to performance ratio. As mentioned the downside is the drivers ( for now ) and the lack of any DX11 capable game to truly test the card. I am anxious to see how this pans out in the near future. Being a battlefield fan, I cant wait to see what that looks like on this card with its new release and dx11 capability.

As for the look of the card, cosmetically speaking, Wicked.

2x 4890's is cheaper and faster. The premium over a 4890 does not reflect performance at all. makes me scared at the thought of the 5870x2 pricing.

nor would i need/want it too, i think its s useless feature for a mainstream graphics card.
like i said before on my workstation it would be handy if i ever needed to expand my dual monitors.

maybe its becuase i am to poor to lay out for 6 highend lcd's or the boarders would piss me of beyond.

3 LCD's yeah that would be alright, as you got a center lcd to keep it centered (in game) and the other two for peripheral vision. Many more than that as as most of you already said - borders suck.

Given that Crossfire is far from 100% efficient in real world applications, the 5870 will be a better choice. And I'm seeing 5870's for less than I can find 2 4890's for. And not everybody has a Crossfire motherboard nor a beefy enough PSU for 2 cards.

you found a 5870 for less than the cost of two 4890's?

including taxes ( exchange if any) and shipping?

Obviously you'd have to pay taxes and shipping on 4890's as well.
