Hey Guys, I have been getting "Display Driver" errors once and awhile. So, I installed the new 10.7 drivers. I didn't remove the previous drivers. Just updated them. And Last night I got the error and a BSOD from it. System crashed and rebooted. Could there be something wrong with my vid card. My games play good. I am puzzled. Thinking of formatting my drive. Any assistance would be great. |

Is your PCI-E clock locked in at 100? |

My WORD I just started getting the same errors around the same time as you! I upgraded to 10.7 and everything seems to be running fine thus far, until I mentioned in another thread that I'm running my fan at 50%, went and checked to realize the 10.7's reset my clock to stock and fan to auto. So I maxed out the OC and put my fan to 45%. Will let you know if the errors still appear. I'm guessing the summer heat and humidity is the culprit... |

I got the error again last night. The easiest way for me to reproduce the error is to put a bunch of load on it, then do something drastic like a resolution change, or alt tabbing to my 2nd monitor. It's either a problem with dual monitors or a heat/stress issue. Next step is to keep the OC, and run the card with automatic fan adjustments... |

Kewl Phonix. Ya, when my system got the error. I was trying to stream some live TV from a website. It would try and load the stream. then Gave me the error. I closed out my browser and re tried. Then I got the Nasty BSOD. And crash-O. Ya. it could be the heat and humidity. Let me know how you made out or have any follow up. |

I also got this when streaming video on Xfire's site. Scared the shiat outta me because I never thought I should be getting a vid driver crash during a friggin online video. Especially when VLC is playing 1080p bluray quality videos without a hitch. There's something going on that's for sure. But you're not alone so that's half the problem solved already. I will troubleshoot as the issues arise and keep you up to date.. |

Hey Phonix. I have been reading that it's not only ATI users. But also Nvidia Users. Some think it's a Windows thing. SOme say it's a Power Supply issue.(Which I don't think it is considering too many ppl are having the same issue.) I was almost going to return the 5850 back to MB. But, I don't beleive it's the card. I appreciate anymore feedback or solution you come up with. Since I am working tonight. My web browsing is somewhat limited on my work station. Thanks again old buddy. Gonna add you to my friends list. |

I really don't believe it's the card either. These cards are some of the most rugged and resilient products ATI has ever released. I can't say it's not a PSU issue because I'm running the bare minimum psu that a 5850 should run on (500w). It could also be a combination of Windows paging too much power from your psu to accomodate for the hardware. Will keep you posted and look forward to hearing any experiences you encounter good or bad. |
