From what I've seen online a lot of people are quite bloody clueless about how much vram is needed for ultra big displays. I'm quite dissapointed that it appears that the 6970/50's come with 1GB Vram. Not much point playing at 5760x1200 if ya can't put even a little AA on it.

Basically this is comparison between a couple GTX 460's with 1GB vram and 2GB vram. There were some other games that didn't seem to have the limitation (HL2, source games). I didn't wanna put too many pics on it, but any game that maxes out with the 2GB cards tanks at any AA with the 1GB cards...

What can be gleaned is that vram is pretty much the most important feature of a card when being used to power 3 displays.

If ATi can't get their ducks in a row, I'm getting 2GB cards, no matter who makes them, even if it's team green!

This should have been a no brainer for a video card manufacturer who's been advertising eyefinity lol

So I can see your point.

You'll never need anymore than 640K...

that's what happens when you cooperatively multitask.

BAH, foiled at every turn, DAAMiT is stupid! They currently have no way to show how much video card memory is being used. I seem to like NVidia even more now!

Here is a rather extreme example of 2GB not being enough.

Cuz it's only got 1GB of ram per core. 0 times 2 is still zero.

Apparently Fuad is saying there is 2GB on the 6970. Which may or may not be true, maybe.

It's another of his usual kind of no source, no pic, no clue article, as shown by the following quote:

...we can definitely say anything over 1GB is overkill, but looks good for marketing purposes.

I still don't know who that "we" is.
