ok heres the whole story mobo ASUSM3A78-EMH bios went currupt had it send out for warranty they reflashed it and it came back working but no front channel on my 8.1 onboard sound when i plugged the jack in the front jack the rear speaker and line input light up on the control pannel for the audio now i dont know if the sound may have gone when the bios crashed or after they flashed it yes the sound did work before the bios crashed.but the fronts are not there besides sending it out again for 2 weeks anyone have any ideas of a way to fix it besides a sound card.

could be a driver problem, did you try reinstalling them?

Check the BIOS, there's usually a PC97/HD sound setting there that may need to be adjusted.

could try a fresh install of windows, other then that i would prob grab a new soundcard or send it back to rma. on-board kinda sucks anyway so imo a stand alone card is money well spent.

thats ok after installing window and the audio driver it work till it was restarted when it rebooted the front channel appeared the same again in the audio control pannel line in lit up and mic input instead of front speakers so to get my front channel i put the green plug in the front jack on the tower and selected it as a set of front speakers and now i have 5.1 again lol.
