I did the initial oc that way just to see. I ended up using a combination of Bus and multi to achieve the OC I have now. That way the memory gets oc'd.

I still consider this to be a rough OC as I didn't loosen the ram timings at all. I know 4.2 is doable with a little better cooling. I should lower the multi a little and up the bus for a higher overall OC. More playtime needed to test this - but not until I go liquid.

When I stressed this last night using prime95, it's load temps were a respectable 45 degrees. more to come !

yes not bad at all seeing as a 940 would run much hotter. Also the 965 uses less volts so true 45nm showings. Overall I am very impressed and for the first time ever, at home getting greater oc results than a few articles I read which capped the 965 @ 3.8Ghz

Yep, I read somewhere that alot of reviewers were crazy in saying they couldn't hit 4. We both did with relative ease so what does that say?

Gonna try to get my ram up to 1200 tonight, it's rated to OC that high.

well I should be able to hit 2Ghz on the ram. I gotta recheck the board specs on that as I know the ram will with stock volts.

finally taking my hand to the 965BE, right now got it running at a basic 3.9 stable,(211x18.5) took 1.5v and no change in temps (gotta love h2o!) going to go for 4.2, hali, what settings did you try to get up there?

if memory serves and sometimes it does, I just upped the multi for a max cpu OC. I got it to hit 4 stable to do a bench. It didnt wanna do 4.2 and I was as far on the vcore as I was comfortable going. I could hit it I am sure with a good water setup but not with a v8 , not that far anyways.

I backed it off and played with the bus to OC the ram. I got it to do 1800Mhz easily with no increase in volts. Corsair is awesome. Apparently the DDR3 1600Mhz xms3 will do 2000Mhz with no volt increase.

Keep on working on it and post results!

Highest I hit was 4.1 with about 90% stability (finally crashed during a large video encoding). I did this with a slight volt increase and a full multi. Wish you luck on hitting 4.2!
