well i got teh computer back off clarkey . again!.
and heres where i sit.
i just spent the last 2 full days setting this all up
i got the 360mm rad mounted on teh top of the case on a angle(pics will be posted later)

before i put the water cooling in the computer i ran just a thermaltake 30$ cpu cooler and was having ALOT of problems with over clocking. temps were just waaaay too high at even 3.33 ghz. computer kept shuttin down. temps were hitting 90c

so today i got a new water block to go with the water system. and i said phuck the pelter garbage. and im just goin water.

now after much screwing about i got it 3.55 ghz STABLE.
prime 95 is up and running now. for about a hour. no errors yet

and i also ran 3d mark and im at 17650 pts!!

Keep plugging away, you'll eventually get your desired overclock provided your components will do it.

Q cores are tricky with 3.76 Ghz being respectable.

Cheers

xfi gamer
1250w coolermaster power supply
360mm danger den rad

rite now the only thing that i can get stable is 3.5~ ghz idle 40c on load 60c. im gonna run some load testin programs over nite and see if its 100% stable.

i suppose the fact that the vcore voltage i set, the voltage in the bios. and the voltage on my monitoring program all read differnt.
to get 1.6v (or what i think is 1.6v going by cpuz) i have to set it in the bios to be about 1.781. in the bios it will read 1.61. in cpuz it reads 1.52.
this is confusing the fuck outa me.

looks like another all nighter. *grabs the bong*

Sound like you need a digital voltmeter and need to measure the Vcore for yourself.

yeah skiman i actually already thought of that. i have a buddy of mine who will lend me a voltage meeter. buuuut where do i test from. i cant exactly get under the chip while its on.

another nite and nowhere. im still 3.55~ ghz range. i cant break 3.6 stable at all. there must be something im missing. i tried +.10 and +.2 voltage bumps on the north and south bridge. nothing. 3.57 is the stable(est) i can get. im gonna plug away at it tonite see what i can get.
i keep getting a bios error tho. comos error bad check sum resetting bios defaults. does this to me every so often on a reboot.

yeah clarkey keep going at it. i had that chip doing 3.66 ghz just not stable!. i think im just gonna be happy with 3.55 ghz like skiman said. when i find that overclock i like and well. im not doing this for another day again.

any suggestions are welcome. im gonna hit 4.0 ghz regardless. even if i have to re hook up the peltier. but at this point temps are not my problems. my temps are good. really good over nite they dropped now idle i have 32-35 for all 4 cores and the cpu is 18c. on load my temps are mid 40s to mid 50s. and cpu is 25 26.

ronedogg,

you may wish to check out this forum regarding the P5N-T Deluxe.

http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?boa ... uage=en-us

Sometimes, even on a Mach II GT at -50C, a processor just won't go any faster even though we can read of others have good success.

thanks for the link.
yeah i pretty much came to accept that fact about some procs just oc better then others. i think im hitting a wall wiht this 3.55 is about all i can get to about that is 75% stable. then again its only for bench marking. and for everyday use and everyday gameing the computer at stock will still smoke anything i do.

this doesn't mean its over. just now i have to get another processor maybe e8400. i wish i could afford

yeah i wasn't really thinking that really until the other night. i don't need it to be oc'd all the time. my rig as is can play any game at stock clocks.
i did some more reading and i think its my ram holding me back. people seem to be having better results with the super talent ram that i always used up until i got these 2x2gb ddr2 1066 axe ram .
any input on the ram?
anyone else besides me and clarkey use these before? i looked online and they say its good oc ram. but so far i can even say myself that i can get better clocks with the old supertalent 2x1gb ddr2 800mhz kit.
i had my old q6600 at 3.33 ghz and the ram at 1066 and it was a stable oc. with this ram i cant get it too boot at any clock with the ram at 1066.

Believe it or not I got my best clocks off Patriot 2gb 2X1gb Kits DDR2 800 Mhz.

As well as supertalent from MB.

I guess when you go cheaper priced items you don't have to worry about destroying them. 8)
