Hey guys. I am thinking on selling my 5850. Less then a year old. Would it be worth doing this to get a 6870 or should I just hold off and get a second 5850???? Some hard choses.

A waste on both points IMO. OC'ing the 5850 to a decent amount will out perform the 6870, and a second 5850 isn't going to be all that swell in a P35 based board with x16/x4 PCI-E slots. The x4 slot is on the southbridge which brings in a lot of CPU overhead. I went through that myself when I had a P5B Deluxe.

Agreed.

In most games a 6870 is only what, a few frames ahead of a 5850? Good point Dr. B regarding xfire - doesnt make sent to spend that money on such a small gain.

Wait for the next offering from ATI/AMD - 6970 perhaps?

Right on. I plan on a major PC upgrade when the next CPU's come out from AMD (Bulldozer) and Intel (Sandybridge). Which one I pick will be price/performance driven. I think then I will get a 2nd 5850 and crossfire it. I am sure It will still be a good performer...Hopefully
