I find it funny for any computer enthusiast to poke fun at anyone who opts for a different hardware configuration. Additionally, the various suggested analogies are a little over dramatic don't you think Steve-O?
While I applaud you for your selection and purchases, you do not need to post such things in such a negative manor so as to somehow justify to yourself and everyone else that your purchase/selection is the best, correct, or wisest. Your rhetoric is getting boring rather quickly.
Whatever your configuration, good for you Steve-O; but from what I see, it is like it just came off the shelf and that really is so boring.
Regarding noise
http://www.hardocp.com/article/2010/03/ ... i_review/7"I had the idea to shoot videos after I was looking at the decibel chart of all the cards. It was rather unimpressive. The 5850 was the "quietest" card at 54dB. The rest of the cards sort of lumped together in the 56dB to 57dB range. The SLI and CrossFire setups were of course the loudest with the CF cards coming in at 59dB and the SLI cards coming in at 60dB at its loudest."Steve-0, not much of a big difference in noise between the 470/480/5870. FYI the 5970 uses the same fan as the 5870.
Now let’s look at the supposed wind tunnel Steve-0 describes as the difference between the 5870 and the 480. Readers should be aware that both reference card use a squire cage design fan, where pressure is the focus rather than volume output.
The 5870/5970 uses the NTK (KH) Ltd FD9238H12S, a 92mm cooling solution with a max 4800 rpm.
The 480 uses the Delta BFB0712HF, a 70mm cooling solution with max 4400rpm.
I wonder what fan has the potential to move more air to cause the wind tunnel? Hint, it is not the Delta.
Enjoy,
Cheers
