Hmmm

In Vantage, my single, non OC'd 4770 score, is higher than my Cf'd 3870's got, as it as it should be considering it has twice as many SP's, it's, say, 7% faster.

15.6% faster at 830/850 which is the max the C CCC allows (the first C is for crappy)

ram does 1000mhz easy, some get close to 1200. most cores will hit 900mhz. the nice thing also is the cards run so cool that you can volt mod them sfely on the stock cooler.

ooo volt mod - are you referring to the pencil way of doing things?

I seen some of these cards online with the dual slot cooler w/heat pipes. If I am getting two and overclocking I am not to fond of all that heat being dumped into the case.

honestly the 45nm design runs so cool that i am completely fine with the reference cooler. the full card cooler you are thinking of is being produced on XFX cards but expect them to be even harder to find and likely expensive due to that demand. to confuse matters worse XFX is using both styles so be careful when ordering.

For simplicity sake, the amount of heat produced by a card is going to be the same no matter what cooler you have on a card. What the dual slot coolers do, assuming it's better than a single slot version of it would be, is remove more of that heat from the GPU/Memory and put it in the air. Assuming you have decent air flow in your case this shouldn't be much of a problem and is much better than the alternative of having the GPU/Memory running hotter.
