WMP11 /rantage

Just got back online, my PC's been a bit wonky and I've been sick. I just gave her a good cleaning, re-seated my TRUE and swapped in some new fans. Hopefully there won't be anymore WTF moments like when it somehow booted into Win7, even though it's on a secondary drive that you need to use the BIOS menu to boot too :shock:

I stopped using Winamp when MS got all testy about them playing WMA files. All my music was ripped to WMA.

winamp plays my few wma files just fine.
however, i don't usually keep wma files on hand long before searching for an mp3 version or converting the wma to mp3.

I was weary of WMA files as well because it's just like MS to to take a perfectly good and open filetype/software and make their own version, which is basically identical but has added "security" in it.

Winamp plays 90% of WMA/WMV files right out of the box. Make sure you install your codec packs and all that for full support.

Winamp's still buggy as well. It's opening a second titlebar on my secondary display, and I need to use the main winamp windows as an eraser. AND it doesn't work with the MM controls on this POS Dell KB.

So I boot into Vista for probably the first time since I started this thread. WMP11 carries on from my unsaved playlist... This is MS breaking shit again to force you to upgrade.... I have Vista, it SUCKS give me Win7 already.

To get your MM controls to work (snappily and properly) in winamp, go to preferences, global hotkeys, and check the boxes up top for key support and enable.

I didn't have that problem on a dual monitor setup, do you have multi display software installed that is trying to organize your windows.

WMP11 crashes ALL the time on me when playing xvid or divx files, so it fails for me.

I love it's tight integration with Win7, just not a fan of instability.

I was using Nview (which nvidia seems to have dumped now)
