Seriously. I'm sure that like a lot of you, I decided to skip Vista altogether and ride it out with XP. And it works okay. But then again, so did Windows 2000 but I'm not still using that. Haha.

The other day, totally fed up with screwing around with the unbelievable nightmare that is colour profiles I went to price up a Mac Pro tower. The result? Um, thanks but no thanks. I'm not spending four thousand bloody dollars on an operating system! Because really, that's all a Mac is now. At least before the switch, the Apple fanboys could fool themselves and say that their magical Macs were made from unicorn horns and pixie dust to justify owning a slower piece of hardware. Now it's just a PC. And funny how they all conveniently changed their minds about Intel processors once they had them, huh? Odd.

So anyway, for the love of Captain Crunch (he's my god and I worship him), please let Windows 7 be awesome.

The Beta was better than Vista ever got... It fixed my peeves about things not working like they had since win2K came out, and that's a good thing.

Good to see you around Nine!

the final version has quite a few things that were absent from the beta as well, plus everything just seems to run a touch quicker. i will be purchasing additional license through the retail chain in october to change over the rest of my machines.

I'm gonna keep an eye on what you guys have to say about it once the final release comes out. My current computer has been freakin' amazing to me so I haven't upgraded in a long time (I think about 4 or 5 years...). So if Win7 kicks as much ass as I'm hoping it will, I'll order up a new supercomputer from Mysterybyte when it comes out.

I've used Win7 on my lappy for awhile now from betas up and it's awesome. Speed on my older lappy has outperformed vista by a lot. I haven't switched my work PC over because lots of the apps i have for editing HD video weren't made for it and I don't want to get half way thru a video edit and it crash.

Good to see ya around ninepound .. life seems to be treating ya good. All the best to you and your family.

might want to give Windows XP Mode a try. although performance will be slower than running the app natively.

Yeah I was thinking about that but I just can't be bothered right now. XP and my editing apps and codecs work nice and stable so prob will stay with XP until I see they are updated for 7.

After reading countless reviews on Win7 my hopes are high. Like some of you I am riding XP until 7 gets a few lil quirks worked out. For one liking to game a little I didnt think directx 10 was all its cracked up to be for vista so no go. From what I have read Windows7 is amazing and all the rage. This comming from people who are pretty harsh on testing and reviews.

I have the Win7 RTM which I am going to put on my secondary for testing. Dual boot with xp 64. If its even 1/2 as good as the buzz seems to peg it, its going on my main gaming Rig soon.

here's one review and also on the right theres several more sections on Win7 and its vast improvements. Everything from tweaks, recovery, system performance etc.

I've been using RTM on my laptop and desktop for a little over a week. I'm very impressed with it. It's quite snappy, and I've had no crashes yet. No hardware issues either. Definitely worth the time to upgrade (by which I mean do a clean install).

Edit: I'm using x64, on both, to clarify.
