If you have a 80gb ps3 and 2 games valued over 8 bucks trade in value. You can trade these in for a PS3 slim.

The major benifit to the slim is the Wifi I found so I couldn't resist. As trade in values cannot be taxed as well.

Just figured I would post this if anyone was looking to update their ps3.

Bad deal. You also have to pony up 50$...

Unless you have 2 games you hate, don't want backwards compatability, don't care about linux, and your system is out of warranty, and don't have a PS3 with 4 USB ports no one should do this.

Also 40GB users are SOL, maybe.

Slim has no card readers, no BC, no Linux.

Meh but if you want Wifi and a smaller more cleaner system which doesn't show every little blemish. This is the one.

Ponying up 50 bucks isn't bad especially with 2 "whatever" games.

Remember the tradein cost can't be taxed so it's just 50 bucks.

Sell your ps3 for 300.00 and buy one new your still ponying up 45 bucks. and that's waiting on kijiji, for the buyer , and see how often you get lowballed.

And when has linux become so great with your ps3? In all seriousness like maybe .01% of users do it.

SD card readers? umm USB Sticks.

Backwards compatibility is beginning to fade since they have stopped production a while ago.

HUGE bonus. WIFI and it works amazing.

I would have to say that Sony would make a lot more money if people played more games on them!

I agree to this indeed.

I would say the main problem in that aspect is the fact all their top selling games (Guitar hero, rockband, etc.) are made for the Playatation 2 as well.

So for a game that can run simply on a 2 rather than 3 and for cheaper that's their own fault. I thought that was poor planning.

I'm thinking I'll get a PS3 slim when I upgrade to an LCD TV (probably boxing day) but ya, I don't intend on getting it for the games. ;)

Wifi? does the wifi in the slim do something that it doesn't in my original model?

*edit* Just noted that the first generation 20gb models did not come with wifi
