If you want one or need a second, third or fourth one, get em now.

"ATI has confirmed that several Radeon 4800 GPUs have reached EOL status though, which corroborates the DigiTimes story. ATI has told us that the 4770, 4850, and 4870 GPUs are all EOL and have been discontinued, so once existing inventory is gone, that's it. The Radeon 4890 is still in production as of today, but they told us that they will phase it out either in Q4 or Q1 of next year. This makes sense considering today's Juniper launch, as well as Cypress last month. "

Not a big surprise. No point having competing products in the same price bracket.

when I change out my setup in 2010, to go AM3 socket, I am going to look at either a 5870 or two 5770/5850's. A friend of mine that works with me ordered a bunch of new gear from MB, awaiting call of arrival on parts - he also picked up a 5850 and going Win 7.

Would like to see how that performs. I will see if I can get em to get on the forums or pass along some info on it.
