Almost have my system done. Here it is so far

Q9550 @ 4ghz
6Gb DDR2 1000mhz
Asus Striker 2 Formula
3 x BFG GTX 280 OC's (Tri SLI)
3 x 74Gb Raptors
2 x 1Tb WD Black
Thermaltake Mozart TX
Coolermaster 1250watt PS
Logitech Z5500 Speakers
42" LCD at 1080p
Windows 7 Ultimate X64

I am looking at going with a raid 0 setup using 2 raptor and a Blu Ray burner
is in the works as well. Other than that maybe a nice sound card. Might do an
I7 setup in the spring. Plenty of power for right now

Spent the evening putting all three 74gb raptors in a single Raid 0 array. Installed Windows 7 X64 Ultimate and I must say I am very happy with the speed. Just need that Blu Ray Burner now.

Bummer.

I have reduced write operations to the SSDs as much as possible. no windows defrag, moved the desktop folder to a proper hard drive, even IE cache, etc

Well this was my first attempt at Raid and also my first HD benchmark. Like I mentioned it was using three 74gb raptors in raid 0 using the striker 2 formulas onboard raid controller. I just dont have room for a dedicated controller.

Seems pretty good. But atleast your aware of the onboard raid controller.

I'm very happy with your setup. Looks good, clean, and performs great I assume!

Great job!

I know what you mean.

I've used tri sli in the past. The minimal gain with the third card was outweighted by the tremendous gains of a dedicated hardware raid controller. I have not looked back.

How much of a difference is there really with the dedicated card. I am talking in real world
usage. Also how much do you think it would increase this benchmark. Thanx for the feedback

Umm lemme see if i can find a pic...

That was just one SSD on the controller (red) vs on the mobo (blue).

Getting a good controller will get rid of the jagged line syndrome, wether or not it speeds up stuff is another thing.

Onboard raid can definitely be flakey. From what I see from friends to run both - there have been lower performance and more instance of issues with onboard over a decent raid card.

The attached image are of my two GSKILL FM252S2-64GB in Raid 0, run under windows 7.

Somewhere on this forum are my posts showing these two drives on the REII software raid, and the Adaptec Card. It is a substantial increase in throughput.

A co-worker here runs two OCZ ssd's in raid 0. He likes it. He is however wondering what a decent raid card would cost, along with the cost of the same as Steve-O is running or something similar - I am asking you guys as you have experience with certain brands/types of raid cards and can suggest something.
