After doing about 30-40 installs of Windows 7 now, I haven't had any issues with on board video not being sufficient. I could see this card being useful for a media center that either doesn't have a hdmi port or no onboard video. Competition for the HD4350, basically.
Also, dual monitor support
I thought most onboard video chipsets couldn't do the Windows Aero effects? Then again, I've always had a video card and since I do not plan on removing it, haven't really researched this all that much.
If that's the case then ya I guess it is more of an upgrade rather than something I consider bare minimum.
