trying to find out why i cant get it to hold stable @ 3.6 @ 1.4v but no problem @ 3.4 @ 1.35v ive tried every voltage between 1.35 - 1.41 as well, it will boot up into windows but as soon as i start a game it crashes and this is all on a fresh install of OS and games and drivers with all the newest drivers for both mobo and vid card.

thats pretty weird. That cpu is easy to overclock. I was playing with mine a while back and got it to just about 4Ghz.

loosen up the ram timings and try again. You can always tighten them up when u reach your desired OC.

More info anyone else have any ideas?

Your ram timings are tighter than a virgin asshole.

Also lots of vcore room to play with just have adequate cooling

Im not to informed about loosening up timings what would be a good start? and as for my vcore i have it set at 1.35 but CPU-Z still shows it at 1.152 is that a program issue or my bios?

agrees with top.

Go aftermarket on a cooler and u will hit far higher clocks. Up to you what ya wanna spend and what you consider worth it.

Loosen up the timiings on your ram ie to the 7's or 8's

You can push the vcore way higher as well but it will give off alot of heat - hence the cooler suggestion.

it will take alot of patience and time to nail a good overclock and have it run stable. take your time.

You can easily hit a stable overclock of 3.825Ghz or higher if u do things right.

Ok thats what I figured was changing the 5-6-6 to higher numbers. Now the prob I have there is my TCL if I choose 7CLK it has next to it DH_Only, Is that gonna be a problem? and seven is as high as my TCL will go, it dosnt give me a choice for anything higher. And CPU Bus, NB and HT Frequency do i need to make any changes to them BUS is 200 and the other two are set to auto.

well the two methods to overclock the amd is by changing the multiplier or the bus.

People will argue to use one or the other. OR you can use a combination of both to achieve the overclock.

you can push the volts well past 1.41 dude, but again, heat will go up each time you raise the vcore. At what speed would you be happy with the clock?

Its possible.

When I overclocked my cpu to see how far I could push it I was using crucial ballistix tracer. Timings weren't an issue and it was stable as hell. I didnt even have to loosen things up.

I also didnt have to do much to over clock at all. It pretty much took care of itself. You can hit 3.4 on most boards without having to even step the volts up.

Why not back it off to there until you try different ram to see if that changes anything?

Sometimes you just get a dog. Regardless of what one tries, the processor or motherboard hits a wall and no higher it will go.

But yep like mentioned all the time no CPU, Mb nor ram are the same for overclocking.

I would suggest setting the vcore to 1.5v and setting the multi to 18.

That should give you a stable but hot 3612.3Mhz.

Then you can back off the vcore a step @ a time until its unstable. Then up 1 and stress. if unstable, up another then stress. Until you find the sweet spot.

I think tho with that setup, you may have to leave it @ 1.5v. Its weird but that cpu will clock fine under stock volts ( well for me anyways ) to ~ 3.4 - 3.6 then it needs a huge bump up in volts to take it a step higher.

this is true. When I was overclocking i always just cranked the vcore to 1.5-1.6 and went from there. Once reached I tuned everything.

Mind you at the time I didn't have a cre in the world for silicon.

I seem to remember getting my cpu at one point to 3.811 on a 19x multi with 1.375v into windows (unstressed tho).

Now that I look at notes from a past OC. Ski may be correct, however, I would definately do what was suggested in my previous post and let us know how you make out. That should get you where you wanna be.
