Hey All,

Well I've been doing my present job for 3 years as a temp. Company policy is to post all positions. Needless to say we have been approved to make my position permanent. Hiring is internal to start, so I don't need to worry about anyone outside the company.

My last interview I was on was for this position, and before that I can count how many job interviews I've had on one hand (including the jobs I had in high school). So what can I say I'm rusty.

Anyone have any pointers for me? Posting the position is a formality as it looks like the job was tailored around my skillset.

Anyways any insight or guidance would be great!

For anyone going into an interview its always good to:

1) research the company you are wanting to get involved with know details.
2) research the job you may be doing know the ins and outs so to speak
3) Dress for the position. Dress pants, shirt , tie and no piercings visible. ( they will notice if you have any and removed them and that scores points )
4) smile and be courteous. If you don't know the answer to a question right away, ask to come back to it which is more than fine and move on. ( to give you time to think )
5) have a portfolio and several updated copies of your resume with you and ask if they would like to view it. ( it should give a feel of who you are )
6) Avoid smoking and aftershave(that am) before the interview.

to mention some.

I know the company and the position (basically what I'm doing now + a little extra), it's going to be for the same department I'm already in.

Just my nerves thats all lol.

what you should realize is that if you are doing an honest days work and people like you, then you are a shoe in.

they will not wanna hire someone else and take that chance especially when you already know the job and been doing it - unless they can save alot of money.

LOL

I admit I thought about doing that Steve-o but ya beat me to it !

Twist n blaze one interview gitters gone - unless you are the paranoid type.

Then while you wait you can freak out at the wicked tan colored walls or think about the sun for a solid 3 hrs thereafter. problem solved.

Yea the position seemed to be tailored around my skill set & knowledge. All of us get along well, and I go above and beyond in my job.

It's mainly just nerves, but I've only had a handful of interviews in my life. I typically go to one, next thing I know I have the job and don't have to go on any more lol. But I don't want to show up being cocky like "yep this job is mine" and not be prepared.

I'd rather be good at jobs and not at interviews than the other way around.

If questions are asked about your ideas and/or vision, try to have the answer be inclusive as in 'we can' rather that 'I can'.

Strut in to the room like you own the place and then start listing off your new demands. If they ever have any follow up questions to what you have already said get defensive about it - it will let them know that the permanent position you are being granted will change your outlook, work ethics and demeanor and they better prepare themselves for the changes that are coming. Finally, be curtious and thank them for the opportunity to continue you're work there. ;)

Seriously though, this isn't so much of an interview as it is a formality for them so congrats on the new job. ;)

Yea it's nerve racking, I always get super nervous over this type of thing, no idea why. I would be under less presure if I walked into a room with 100 smoking hot women allwanting to go at it.

Like that one scene in "The Boat That Rocked" when the guy had his "harem" in the hold heh. You'd have to watch the movie to know what I'm talking about, and I can't actually post a screenie due to extreme boobies!
