I need some new summer tires and since they seem to be a hard to get size so I thought I'd start looking now. All I've found thus far is special order from Crappy Tire, the General Exclaim UHP which would come in at $150/tire and really I can't afford to pay much over $175/tire. I'm in need of P 205/45 R16. Are there any places in the HRM I could walk in and get a set?

HERE

Even with shipping Tirerack tends to be cheaper than local. Add the strong Dollar, and you can get any tire you want for what would be the price of junk tire here.

For example:

Continental's ExtremeContact DWS, Ultra High Performance All-Season radial. In 205/45/R16 is $106US/tire. Shipping to my postal code is $136, and with tax the grand total would be $683.58US =~$713CAD. To your (my) door.

Now that was the top reviewed tire in that category, others are cheaper...

Just go buy 12 cinder blocks, go find a guy that has the tires you want (why not get rims too). get a good jack, atleast one that goes up and down fast.

Boom. 4 inexpensive tires, if you want the cinder blocks after wards. Just drop the caron the ground.

I always ordered from Tirerack.com

or Dartmouth Surplus.

DS was cheapest by far in their warehouse.

Tirerack is US right? What about silly brokerage fees from some of these so-called 'reputable' shipping companies?

Actually the vacant place next door has stacks of cinder blocks sitting around. I was at the dealership yesterday and not a single car had my size of tires. (No I wasn't tire 'shopping', I was getting an MVI, luckily I have my snow tires on at this time of year.)

Brokerage, tire tax, HST, and all are included in your total (even in the example I gave). They've got their ducks in a row!

Well, I ended up squeezing another year out of the Kumho pos tires that came with my car, this year they JUST had to be replaced (note to car buyers, look at the damn tire size on your car carefully, these weird sizes suck)

Anywhoo, spanking new Dunlop Direzza DZ101's

Oddly, cheaper bought locally with installation, than buying online....
