I prefer the intentionally missleading benchmark results to the fake ones. Like the ones that have a totally weird scale that makes one fps in difference look like a huge difference.

Well that one above is probably both fake and intentionally misleading, as they show one Dirt2 Bench with unknown res/settings, and 3 from far cry 2 with unknown settings.

Apparently Polish pricing, whilst using xe.com shows 688CAN$ for 480 and 550CAN$ for 470. AWESOME DEAL. I have yet to see any concrete pricing details for the US...but here are some prices to oogle upon.

GeForce GTX 470 : 448 SP, 607/1215/1674MHz core/shader/mem, 320-bit, 1280MB, 225W TDP, US$349
GeForce GTX 480 : 480 SP, 700/1401/1848MHz core/shader/mem, 384-bit, 1536MB, 250W TDP, US$499

I'd be (pleasantly) surprised if/when they show up on MB for less than 400$ and 575$.

3DMark Vantage Extreme
HD5970: 12339
GTX480: 9688
HD5870: 8912
GTX470: 7527
HD5850: 6848

And another doozie of a misleading graph heh.

I'm still satisfied with my week 3 purchase of my 5870 for 415$+tax heh.

You bastard... So could have justified the extra $80 if it were still in that price range when I purchased... Just not $100+

Seems the NDA lifts on Friday and the reviews will be out at that time.

I bet all the hardware sites had to share the same actual video card :P. I wonder if we'll see any SLI reviews with 3 monitors in eyefinity (because whatever NV calls it...doesn't matter).

Those were empty boxes Dr. B, seriously. They are pretty spiffy though. Don't worry, I'll change the thread name once I see an actual benchmark on Friday to "Fermi is teh REAL DEAL!". Wether or not the wait will have been worth it, who knows!

A 6 month long thread, this is about as awesome and as epic as it gets on MB :)

Apparently any and all Dirt2 numbers are to be taken with a large helping of salt, since Dirt 2 automatically defaults into DX9 mode. DX11 is 25-40% slower apparently.

Apparently some more fuel to the Fermi firebox, from our friendly Charlie D. :

"NVIDIA IS TWISTING the arms of e-tailers over GTX480s, forcing them to clean out the warehouses of old inventory if they want the new cards. If you want any allocations of the GTX470 or GTX480, be prepared to buy lots of low end cards.

The deal goes like this. If you want any GF100 based cards, you get them in bundles of 10 GTX470s and 10 GTX480s. For each of the bundles, you have to buy 20 G210s, 20 GT220s, 20 GT240s and 20 GTS250s. So basically you have to buy 80 old, crap parts to be eligible to receive just 20 of the newer and supposedly 'good' ones."

I lol'd.

Nvidia is priming themselves for a fail worthy of the FX5800 if these things don't perform.

If the cards were as good as everyone hoped they were (including me), we'd actually have seen credible, reproducable results a long time ago.

Agreed.

No doubt these cards will ship to consumers, but price point/performance is going to be hard to balance considering the yields reported.

They made the biggest mistake in delaying DX11 support, now they are considerably behind in the timeline, and most likely rushing to get whatever useable chips they can get out to consumers.

Should see them soon, but not very often...

Ya, I see this being the next FX series as well - over hyped, delivered late, mediocre results, and possibly a few driver issues.
