Whatever card works best for FSX, pending cost, I'll buy. My office gets cold in the winter so Nvidia's ability to heat it may be a plus. summertime, yikes! I am leaning towards ATI, unless the 480 can do well FPS for FSX, I'll forgo the heat and noise issues. What ever provides my need for speed (cost considering), will be the puppy I'll bring home. I was hoping for better numbers for Nvidia, should know within the next month after the flight simmers try and review it.

hmm that would explain all the random women in bikinis out on his patio all summer long lol

drums - performance per watt and cost - the 5850 takes it. ATI is on top of they're game team green cannot compare to the 5 series on all fronts. Period.

I think I saw a FSX chart somewhere and the 480 was better in FPS. I guess you could run a 480 in the winter and swicth to a 5850 in the summer :P

Yeah in some games, it will be like that tho due to the cards internals and how the game is coded. One game will favor the 480, others a 5870. I am speaking in performance, watt, cost ratios which is what I go for myself only.

Then again with all the women on steve-o's balcony you would think he would have at least two waving paper fans at his puter in the summer and passing around beers :P

My feet get cold in the winter, so I can aim my out put from the fermi at my feet. Thinking of running my cold water pipes past the card and get free hot water. Plus, I can do the flight sim, and keep my KFC hot by keeping it by the Nvidia food warmer. I read some where George Forman is connected with Nvidia, the Geprge Forman 480 grill.
Unless the 480 is a bag of chips and dip, looking at the ATI with new interest. That will be the first ATI gaming card for me. My Nvidia fan boy days are done.

I knew I was going to regret looking at Tom's Hardware. I was not dissapointed by said useless wacky chart.

I wish I had FPS/Watt * 100!

I's say those numbers are more of an ROI model.

Bumming around all the usual online sites shows that 5850 and 5870 prices have gone up. Grab em at MB at their current prices. Apparently the 480/470 release have had the exact opposite effect that everyone (who were looking for price drops) wanted.

I wonder if nVidia & ATI have done some sort of market research which tells them to throw in as many 7's,8's and 9's into their product names as possible?

Apparently XFX is NOT going to be producing any 470's or 480's.

Probably because they didn't think it was economically feasable to offer real lifetime warranties on them cookers. They're coming out with their own spiffy 5970 4GB card to make up for the slack.

A truly innovative solution for those of you for whom money is not a concern. Only 6200$ baseline. 9000$ nicely equipped with no monitors.

And yes, it uses the exact same H50-esque cooler that myself and Hali-Newf use.

Its a little weird when the ad lists Nvidia cards then down the list some gives you the option for the third "ATI -eyefinity" monitor

I see the suggested psu is a 1.5KW. Wonder why.

Three cards pushing 100 degrees should have its OWN liquid cooling loop and a car sized rad.
