Has anyone in HRM actually bought a 470 or 480 yet? I'd like to know how yer experience is (if it falls within the online average or usability).

OK, I have to post these graphs because it just gets even more comical. These are from the xbitlabs review. Don't worry about the ATi part, look at how it's worse in every single way over the GTX470; it's hotter, louder and uses more juice, and performs worse at gaming.

Curious about the noise and temps for the 5850. My temps are very very low. Far lower than they are reporting(~30 degrees as opposed to the reported 44). I have my fan manually set to a mere 35% and the fan isnt audible. Unless (I am guessing) I open my case up and put my ear to the card.

Under load, the reported 80 degrees I find funny and have to wonder if they have the fan enabled at all. I will have to recheck but I don't think my card even broke 60 degrees under load.

Also keep in mind the temps I am giving are actual with the card running under its MAX overclock. So I guess I will take them with a grain of salt.

The temps seem to be inline with what I see with the fan at 25%, it's not until it gets above 80ºC that it ramps up. Depending on which OS I'm in, my 5850 idles at 400 or 137(173?) core.

The 5850's i've run using Furmark (card at stock settings) seem to start out around 50C and level off at about 82-84C with the fan going at what sounds like 100%. The 5870's aren't much different and the 5970 seems to be about 10C higher than the 5850/5870.
haven't seen a 470/480 yet.

More good news

http://www.techspot.com/review/283-gefo ... n-hd-5800/

257.15's don't seem to cut the mustard in actual gameplay (vs timedemos) The 5870 is pretty much on par with the 480, and the 5850 stomps the 470 in most games. GTX 470 = $393, 5850 = $310 at current MB prices. You do the math.
