If you have the extra cash, a quality 750W wouldn't hurt.

Steve-o, you can ice fish here, no need to travel.

I was on the fence whether or not to go with a sandy bridge or an AMD system however given the latest news I think the decision is made. Here's what I have planned .. if anyone see's an issue with this setup let me know. (Keeping in mind I'm at the top of my budget with this setup)

1 16393 AMD Phenom II X4 970 (3.5GHz) 125W AM3, BLACK EDITION
1 14753 CoolerMaster V8 CPU Cooler (AM2+/LGA775/S940/1366)
1 16019 Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H 890GX+SB850 4XDDR3 xFire SATA3 USB3 HD Audio GbL
2 16121 AMPO 4GB DDR3 1333MHz CL9 w/ Heatspreader (MB 1st yr Hot Swap)
2 15964 WD BLACK 1TB 3.5" 7200 RPM SATA3 6GB/S, 64MB (WD1002FAEX) (5YR MFG - 1YR MB) ( Will be a Raid 0 setup ... would using ghost or true image to backup be a problem? )

My issue is that you didn't do it sooner!

Acronis for sure, Ghost is a POS when it comes to Windows 7.

Yeah I been waiting on some funds mostly .. could have done it a bit cheaper but wanted to wait till I had enough money to setup raid and a decent sound card (which I already have but never listed on here). I already use Acronis now and don't plan to ever use ghost unless I absolutely had to.

Going to need to add on a power supply too I guess .. with 4 hard drives, a DVD burner, Sata drive dock(which almost always has a drive in it and lots of usb devices my current enermax 500 probably won't handle it. Any suggestions? Nothing expensive though. lol

yeah Acronis definitely. That one is a no brainer. Not sure why you want to go with 1333 over 1600 but ok. Also for the cost of two drives you can almost go SSD - and with my current experience with ssd ( holy sh*t) I would go that route for sure.

Other than that, excellent cpu, board and cooler.

Edit: with your latest post, Anything that has an active PFC. Right now there's a 700w OCZ at nc ix for 80 bones.

and Mysterybyte has a 700w coolermaster for 88 bones!

Yeah after i posted I decided to go to the 1600. Also I had thought about SSD however when editing videos I sometimes have some pretty huge amounts of video clips I work with in one project and I need a lot of disk space so 1TB's in raid was a better choice for what I need it for. If I have 2 projects on the go at once and each one has a 150 gb of files thats 300 gig i need just for the files. If it wasn't for this issue I would be SSD for sure.

Will look into that PS .. just about my price range too.

As a concerned citizen, I will take my Kill-A-Watt and plug it into my Jesusbox, with 6 hard drives, and 4 burners and let ya know the wattage. No point running Furmark since it's only a 4770 plugged into it.

I bet that 500W would be fine, you'd just start running out out of Molex/power cables.

The max draw I saw when running 3 concurrent instances of ConvertXtoDVD off of 3 seperate greendrives to the raptor was 216W. So I'd have to say add 50W if you plan to OC.

Thanks for the info .. my 500 should be fine then. It's got plenty of power connections too.

I have purchased everything for my system except the cpu and MB because I'm torn. For what I want it for the sandy bridge systems blow the 1100T that I was looking at out of the water. I'm almost tempted to get a sandy bridge system and just use the unaffected ports or get a addon card for the Sata2 ports.

Just for the record... my Sandy Bridge setup has been running perfectly since intial bootup. I've got 3 hard drives running from the 'affected' ports with no issues. Not to mention that ASUS is going to advance RMA me a replacement board when they are available. Until then I'mrocking along on this 'defective' setup anyway...

Oh I know everything is blown out of proportion for the whole Sandygate affair, but by golly it feels good watching Intel squirm.

If I were you I would go for the Sandy Bridge setup despite the recall.
