I'd be willing to downgrade to the 15/1 package on the mere principle that the U/L speed wasn't upgraded, which should be 20/1.3, not 20/1.

I just got my letter in the mail yesterday informing me of the change. All this time and I've been looking for ways to lower my Eastlink bill instead. I was planning on cutting cable for the summer but I don't think my girlfriend could live without it, and they want that $50 fee to hook it back up again when I do go back so cutting it for 2 months would really only save me like 1 months worth of cable bills.

Did you have to call and complain to get those prices? I sorta thought when I was calling about cancelling cable they would try to offer me something, even though I was still intending on cancelling, but they were fine with me leaving I guess. :?

my mom had the cable disconnected here (i told her to) and she switched to just phone+internet and got the new customer rate for it for a year.

I just call in and ask for a price match, they say they don't, then I tell them I want to cancel.

You can get TMN free every 6 months for 2 months.
And just look online for specials \ promotions. They don't indicate online they are for new customers only 90% of the time.

I have done that two yrs in a row. Why spend more money when a 5 min phone call can save ya 20-50 bucks a month. That sh*t adds up.

I will keep doing this yr after yr to save money, its not that I am cheap, I just dont like to waste money and with little competition we pay thru the nose for cable phone and inet per month.

Yea exactly, why pay more then you have to. I'd rather my money in my pocket then in some big business.

Once Fiberop is around my place I think I'll be switching to Bell for a bit. I'm tired of Eastlink always increasing their prices. Heh their HD is un-watchable half the time.

The HD glitches often enough that it's annoying I find.

I've heard with Fiber they don't just convert it when it enters your house to the existing infrastructure (phone and cable lines) but they actually add fiber cabling to your house. On one hand it's kind of neat that it's fiber optics all the way to your device but on the other hand I don't want a Bell technician in my house wiring the place up where "easiest". I've heard too many horror stories from people at work.

Correct. Right into the device.

Just checked the wiring and quality of installation. Pretty clean to be honest.

They did good work but it took them all day on this place I was checking.
