I just found out after lunch that my car was sitting in the parking lot here with a flat tire. :( I put the spare (donut) on and I'm just trying to decide if I should try having the tire patched or just replace all 4 as this was going to be the last season for them regardless.

It doesn't look like Dartmouth Surplus is open later tonight so I might just take it to Canadian Tire, which is super close, and deciding then depending on how much patching the tire costs.

If the holes in the tread it shouldn't be anymore than $10 to plug it seeing as you've already taken it off. Then again there's that inflation thing...

The leak ended up being in the valve stem. Canadian Tire (closest place near my work office) said they charge $20 if they can fix it. My guess is the $20 is to cover the labor or finding the hole and fixing it and the materials are pretty much nothing. That also paid for having it put back on the car afterwards, and they were able to fit me in without an appointment the next day nicely.

All in all another place might have charged $10 but it wasn't worth my time and energy driving around on a spare tire to get that deal. ;)

Not too bad unscheduled for CT. Mind you I avoid them like the plague.

But... Not bad.

I don't like how backed up they get in terms of their scheduling, and how a simple thing like "can this tire be fixed" requires someone to sit in front of a computer terminal for 10 minutes typing to get things ready but I have to say for a place that's near my work they've helped me out twice now with tire issues.

I'm serious too about their computer set up. They ask you something simple like "What year is the car?" and you would think a response of "2006" would require at most typing 4 keys but they type for what feels like 2 minutes to enter that information - "The car being brought in to us was constructed in 2006 Anno Domini, in the year of our lord". Its redonkulous.

Roomie had tries switched from winter to summer, and got some new tires from who knows..But CT decided to use some incompetent noob and his rims got scratched to crap. Blah blah sure they paid to get the rims re-done, and then the scheduled time to put them back on and 3 hours later they still don't do it, blah blah blah.

Moral of the story is: They don't call it Crappy Tire for no reason.

Well I hope they didn't scratch up my steel rims! ;)

I usually get my tires changed at a place in Truro to be honest because I leave my off-season set at my parents where they have a garage but this was an emergency case.

Either way it's Sudbury in the 80's, or the surface of the moon.
