Well it seems like my Logitech Elite is finally starting to show signs of age. 3+ years of gaming on it and my R (reload) and space bar seems to be getting a little intermittent.

Now I'm looking for a keyboard that doesn't ghost (can press many buttons at once without issue - yay for non-standard configs - who's idea was that way back when doom came out sheesh). This keyboard isn't immune to that, but it was better than my previous cheapy keyboard.

I'm somewhat eyeing the Razer Tarantula since it offers anti-ghosting. But, its expensive and seems to have some problems. Plus I can't seem to find it locally.

Oh and nothing wireless, cause I hate batteries.

Wondering if anyone has suggestions for a replacement? I have looked at the G11 and G15, but they don't seem to say anything about the ghosting issue.

I'm not sure what you mean by ghosting, but my G15 plays WoW (I was an end-game druid) and CoD4 perfectly fine if that helps your decision at all.

I've never heard of "ghosting" in terms to a keyboards before either but after checking out the Razer site I get what they mean by it but don't know if the G15 (which I also have) suffers from it. If it does I definitely haven't noticed it yet.

Indeed it seems Razer made up that term, but this darn custom config I've been using for so many years sometimes tends to suffer from it. Holding down too many buttons (3-4) at once and they don't all register.

I'll see if I can check out a G15 in a store somewhere. My biggest worry about a Razer product is the lack of local retailers I guess.. I've read some of their keyboards have defects..

There's a Second Gen G15 out now too but it has a smaller LCD screen and less G-Keys which is causing a lot of people to complain. Personally I think the changes are good though becuase:

1) The LCD screen doesn't have to be flipped up, which is a pain for people with keyboard drawers, and the light coloring is less obtrusive then the bright blue of the First Gen.

2) The First Gen boards were very wide because of all the G-Keys it had. Imagine adding another numeric keypad to the left-hand side of your current keyboard and that's what you can expect for width. The new version isn't as wide and should still have enough macro keys. The most I've ever used for a game was 5 and I found there were actually too many keys on the board I have to quickly make use of the ones I want.

With that said however I do really like the G15 as a gaming keyboard.

Having A G15 I can say above comments are correct. The thing is very freaking wide and I alse use a keyboard tray, therefor I hardly ever use the LCD. Coming with 18 macro buttons and having 3 fuctions on each key is a rather bit much and it would still work fine with say 8 "G" keys and 4 functions to each. After issues with wireless keyboards I'm not going back to a wireless keyboard anytime soon.

The only real beef I have with it is that sometime the macros get lost and I have to open the G15 control panel from the tray to get them back.

Thanks for the comments guys. As usual, my keyboard seems to be ok at home again now. This happens with mice before they die completely. But I'll definitely be checking out the G15 for a replacement.

I do use a keyboard drawer and rarely look at the keyboard while playing. I guess it would be cool to know who's on vent.. :D I highly doubt i'll ever use a macro..

If anyone wants a G15 I'll sell them mine. PM me if you're interested, it's way too wide for my keyboard tray

Any idea how tall it is when the LCD is opened?

And do you actually use it? The idea of buying a used keyboard isn't overly appealing to me. Not that I'm some clean freak or anything.

I do kind of prefer the look of the 2nd revision as well.
