it seems i've never posted in this thread...
at any rate the score i'd get now would be less than my previous high score since i'm no longer overclocking and have gone back to using my x1900aiw.

my top score 5377

that was with my 5200+ @ 2.9ghz (i think) and my 7900GT at stock

x-cellent!!!

Is that vid card OC'd?

I've got a new build (not mine) to "tweak" over the next month, so any advice on how to make a 3870X2 play nice would be appreciated.

Ok, good to know. I did a quick run a couple of nights ago with the xeon quad at stock and 8.2 drivers, think it only came up to about 12000.

Going to have to try with 8.4 for a stock run and then see if I can make that cpu squeal..... :)

You need an OC on the cpu to take advantage of the GPU power, 1280x1024 is far to CPU limited nowadays.

Yeah it's on an ASUS Maximus Formula although I'm not convinced there is much benefit to the new chipsets yet. (PCIe 2.0 doesn't seem to make any difference at all in benchmarking).

There's only about a 5% hit running on a P965, it's certainly not worthwhile to fork out $300 for 5% more.

Not quite as nice as yours. :)

Are you using stock cooling? I noticed you had better OC results with your card and of course have to ask if there are any secrets you'd care to share..... :)

(I'm going to try playing with PCIe voltages and freqs, but I didn't see much difference with those on my 3870 so don't expect to get anything out of it).
