Well, i am back into looking for a video card since the 4870-4870 260/280 are out, and i definatly want to go with an ATI since MOBO is CF capable. now, i have an opportunity to buy 2X 3850 to run in crossfire with a price of $180 shipped...or should i just go with a single 4850?

thoughts anyone?

IMO you'll get more performance out of a 4850 than two 3850's.

price was for TWO 3850 and got him down to $150

and 4850 is 199 new

anyways, decided not to go with the 3850's after me and the guy discussed it, my motherboard although CF capable will be severely hindered, the PCI-E ports dont split 8X and 8X one runs 16 and one runs 4X..or something like that...either way...would get about 35fps in crysis but would chug like it was 10fps...so i guess its a 4850 i get!

4870 will do whatever you want it to do. 1920x1200 with everything on and at least 2xMSAA.

Just installed the 4850...and i read about high idle temps....mine...81C!!!!!!! I toched the backplate after sitting at the desktop for only 2 min...and wow...almost burnt my finger!! so i did the catalyst profile tweak...set it to 60% and its louder but not too bad....also i have one of the 120mm shut off and one 992mm (right over the card) not turned on, i was concerned the 460w coolermaster (18a on 2 12v rails) would stuggle...but BIOS is showing good results and bios usually reports lower than actual in my expirence...

anyways....i should do some gaming tommorow....wil let everyone know the results...
