The thing is as soon as you try to do something else the benchmark just quits.

I didn't know that but the point I was trying to make was simply that adding memory only helps when you are able to make use of it. Otherwise it's no more a help than adding more memory than your OS can allocate.

Technically you should however see a difference in score if you were to run the benchmark while doing other things on your system, assuming the memory usage on all the apps combined was over 2GB's.

That is what I was referring to.

well i knew that running bench marks on the same setup would have a slight differnce, but just gave it a try with an extra 2 gigs in there, proving that this benchmark didnt require anymore than 2 gigs. But thanks for the info along the way

yup i can totally agree with yas on this one. the amount of ram will not change your benchmark score. the frequency of the memory can slightly. when i run my ram at 1066mhz insted of stock 800 i get about 500-1000 points extra pending on if vista wants to jive with everyting.
i did the 4 and 8gb ram over kill and only thing i found usefull for 4gb or more was when running multipul virtual machines.(witch i dont do as much anymore) so there is no need for all this ram.
