Ok..I admit defeat,,and need opinions
I had a raptor crap the bed on me yesterday(part of a raid setup)
I got a new case..so i figured, hey I'll install it all in the new case and start to install on one raptor..
it took some time to format the single drive as I had to remove it from the raid set...
anyway i got it going..but it seems hideously slow..from everything from surfing..to gaming..file transfer seems ok..
specs
e8400(stock)
Asus P5B Deluxe
Silverstone psu and Tuniq Psu(tried both)
2 x 2Gb Mushkin
Raptor X 150Gb
Ide Dvd Drive
Evga 9800GX2
os Vista Ultimate 32bit

Its hard to describe..but my sons comp with a e1200@3.0ghz and 80Gb Wd "feels" like it is running circles around mine

I think I am going to replace the mobo,Harddrives and get another psu..I know this is not fixing the problem..but this is irritating me

Sooo...if anyone has any ideas,,,suggestions...I'd appreciate it

Did you change the default drivers of the SATA chipset yet? Normally a big boost once you do that.

yep..updated every driver..even checked for beta drivers...gonna mess with it under ubuntuu and xp again and see if there is much change..
dunno...may have to try a extra lappy drive here to see if the other raptor(even tho it tests fine) is the problem

Make sure the IDE drive didn't get stuck in PIO mode. That Jmicron controller was enough to make me upgrade all my drives to SATA.
