Anyone know of a benchmark (reliable) for doing your harddrives? If ones all scratchy sounding I wanna found out and im guessing a benchmark would make it stick out like a sore thumb

get HDtach

also, is that 500GB drive a seagate by any chance?
i've been noticing that some of their 500GB drives make this odd scratching sound when under heavy load, but after a while it goes away. i also find it's more pronounced when the drives are colder.

I think it would cause the hard drive to do random things that would cause the drive to show whatever conditions that may or make the noise that VH decided throw into the thread and change the subjectarino.

Actually it seems VH decided to change the subject twice. Oh well keeps it fresh.
