Well I have been holding out for years, but yesterday I finally broke down and got a cell. Anyone else out there still among the dwindling crowds of non-cell users.

I have had one for years.

Wish I didn't but it's far too convenient to give it up. I am looking at upgrading to a smartphone, likely iphone after christmas.

It'll grow on you, my girlfriend was vehemently against them, then her work gave her one and she loves it. I don't chit chat on the phone a lot but it's super handy trying to contact people on the fly, or organize things

Same. I don't talk on it much, but I like having it around, just in case.

I use mine for calling work only & texting. I send/receive alot of texts in the run of a day. It's my main form of comunication as I can answer when I feel like or am able to. Much better than talking on a phone!

I am. In fact no one in my immediate family has one either - not that I live with them anyways though. I'm personally very much against cell phones for a number of reasons:

1) Cell phone companies. Pretty much everyone I know who has a cell phone has at one point gotten screwed completely over by their cell phone carrier yet they continue to go back for more punishment... I just don't get it. Also, Slashdot reported earlier this year that it costs twice as much to transmit data over text messages than it does for the Hubble Space Telescope to transmit data back to Earth. Please tell me this isn't price fixing...

2) I dislike being in the company of someone with a cellphone that is on. It wasn't bad at first but after having a girlfriend who would get calls while your hanging out and put you on hold for 10-15 minutes while she chatted got to me after a few months.

3) I strongly dislike most of the people who think they're cool... probably not most of you here because it sounds like you don't like talking too much on them but you all know the type... "Like you know... whatever!". ;)
