That would imply that I have stuff worth that much to actually save. That's what the Raptor is for heh.

I have found that RAID 5 is pretty much worthless since I don't use/pay for "enterprise" (other than raptor) hardware. I don't want/need to keep extra drives hanging around. Also if one drive fails, chances are another one would fail as well. This way if one fails I only lose what's on that drive and not everything.

I will only Raid 1, if necessary.

Also, yer sig and banner are teh broken :(

What do you use it all for?

I am comfortable with a 250gb drive, not even close to half full.

Word. I'm looking for a similar sort of setup, but I can't afford it right now. I'd want them in a NAS, so I need to buy another whole computer for them, instead of just the drives :(

I found that the price of a "proper" NAS would actually cost more than a barebore PC. It's also a torrent box, an HTPC and a print server heh.

Oh yeah, of course. I'd just build a cheap PC and throw in some SATA cards.
