So i sold my 4870x2 yesterday =(

Anyhow the individual whom installed it is running it on a small stock acer board. Looks to be a few years old and is having problems with it. Artifacting, running as it shouldn't (slow)

My guess it's a old board and isn't compatible (perhaps pci1.0). When he first attempted to install it he ran a stock 400-450w on it and the computer browned out before upgrading the PSU.

I'm pretty sure the card wasn't damaged when this happened but looking for insight that most likely the board from a stock acer pc is just old and is not getting the bandwidth.

Discuss.....

The CPU is a AMD 4000 I found

and he says it's 16x pci-e

The board is still a stock acer, yes. It's not very appealing to the eye.. :?

When he purchased it I always had it running 100 % well on crysis. supreme commander, cod 4,5. GTA's, WOW, etc.

But What im running is

q9550 @ 4.17
P5Q-E
4GB DDR 2 PC 8500 Gskill
Toughpower 850W PSU
Mozart TT case
2x 300 gb Velos
2x 500GB Barracudas Striped
2x 80gb Seagates striped.

Depending on the chipset used, it might actually only be a x4 slot.

For the price of that card, it really deserves to be placed on a decent board. Especially now that you can grab SLI/CF ready board for around $150.

yeah agreed.

He said he's saving up.

He was considering reselling it right away with lost faith. But I explained the rest of his OC is his greatest bottleneck.
