I must say, W7 is pretty impressive thus far. But a heads up for anyone planning on using the beta as their primary operating system (bad idea).

Punkbuster is not compatible with Windows 7 on many many games. Furthermore, I sent an email to evenbalance asking why this is, and they replied simply: "We do not have the time or resources to provide support for beta OSes"

Sad though, considering if they wait for the W7 release, they will be swamped by millions of consumers wondering why their product doesn't work, when now they have a chance to work with technically inclined users to have this problem fixed prior to release.

If any of you would like to voice your concerns to evenbalance about their lack of support, please send them a ticket:

http://ssl.evenbalance.com/troubleticket/

Maybe if enough of these tickets are created EB will snap out of it and give W7 beta users a functional pb client.

Why would they support any sort of windoze OS in the first place since they are mostly in the never-ending beta phase heh. But seriously this is just bad business and bad thought process on their part.

I'm not overly familiar with how many FPS's use PunkBuster but if it were to go down or say, not work for a week, how many games would be unplayable because of this?

Flama, damn near every FPS on the market, and countless others in other genres.

I sent a fairly professional email to them though, i think that's why I got a response.

But seriously, there's too many noobs installing W7 and losing their game's playability.

Come on EB, wisen up...

Ya, I remember seeing it a lot in the very very few FPS's I played a while back but for the past 3 years I've basically been living under a rock when it comes to gaming. :?

install PB as administrator and in compatibility mode.
and install any game that used pb the same way
i still get kicked every now and again. but not as much

of if your skillfull enough like me u can just disable pb stream all together client side. and play with guid banned cdkeys or whatever. never worry about pb kicks or bans for that fact. ;)

Hey that's a cool concept, can't say I've ever heard of it but sweet.

As far as the suggested tips, I tried all those steps already, I did some crazy researching on this problem and touched all bases. The best I got I think was a little less than an hour but I mean someone like me who's plays competitively pretty steadily can't risk it going out in the middle of a match.
