compare between Vista and win 7 with same hardware ~same speeds

Vista

P24520

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=884073

Win 7

P21709

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=1355352

Appears as a big drop, however, I think this might be a driver issue?

Yup, but the potentiometers are not connected.

EDIT,

Seems as I was comparing apples to apples, with the vista having ppu enabled and win 7 disabled.

here is the win 7 vantage ppu enabled.

Solder, long 32 guage wires, a hot iron, magnifying glass, and a VERY steady hand. Three wires are needed with one measuring Vout, and the two others connecting one leg of the regulator to a 100kohm resistor then to Ref. I use an external breadboard as a connection point for the components.

VMod for the 280GTX

I'll have to dig through my records for that information, that is if I saved it.

Via EVGA software, you can set a maximum of 2.0 Volts for 3D operation; however, with the hard mod 2.2V can be set.

With fans at 100% the heat was not a big issue but is a limiting factor with NVidia. At max volts a very good core/shader OC was obtained. Maximum memory speed did not seem to increase. I'm sure with good water cooling, the core and shader clocks could have even gone higher.

When I next start 3D benches, I'll give the max stable numbers under the various voltage settings.

Awesome Awesome Job Ski.

I have yet to get a chance to push my quad to 4Ghz. what I will do is run a 3Dmark on the machine all stock(tonight) then bench it as I overclock and post the settings/results. That way I can also see all the performance gains.

Interested to see the difference in your work from stock to modded.

Since there's no point in running less that 1920x1200.

I found a few simple mods that involved a sharp #2 pencil and a voltmeter.

I am going to run a round of benchies soon myself. 1 4870 on xp 32 bit, then with two, then two on win7 64 bit and have a look at the numbers. I am pickin up another 2 gigs of crucial 1066 on Saturday so Windows 7 ulti soon afterward.
