with this combo AMD780G+ATISB700 mobo, 2gigs pc6400, ATIHD3870512mb, what cpu would be best AMDX26000+3.0ghz , or a AMDX49550 2.2ghz Quad. Looking at gaming performance mostly.

Well he is getting a 780G mobo, if he was going for uber speed on the AMD side he'd be getting a 790FX mobo.

I would have gotten a 780G for my new HTPC but my projector doesn't have any HDMI or DVI connectors so I can't really play and HDCP content.

But I am going to get a tri-core for it though.

He's going completely AMD/ATI anyways so why corrupt the setup with something that makes sense? lol

if he was going for uber speed he wouldn't have ANY amd products in it. still don't understand why people would choose amd with prices almost identical now. intel is destroying them so badly now it seems like such a no brainer to go core 2.

Im goining with the amd for the onboard 780g chip set with HD3200 onboard, that way i dont need to go crossfire, having 780g and one vid card is almost like having crossfire. when you put in a vid card the onboard isnt disabled it works with the vid card boosting its performance. and the only similar intel mobo is the g35 and go look at fps between the 780g and the g35 there isnt any comparison.

Some people just don't like Intel/Nvidia (myself included). It's a "political" choice. Like voting for the Green Party.

just replace the cpu with an core 2 duo e6550, and the motherboard with either a gigabyte dsl3 or asus p5ke and you will get waaaaay better performance and save about 6-7 bucks. and if you wanted to spend an extra $10 you could get an e6750.

if you are looking for HDMI specifically there are a ton of board with thta for similar prices as well.
